About Us
St. Augustine’s — or “St. A’s,” as our community lovingly calls it – is a welcoming and inclusive Christian community seeking to follow Jesus by celebrating the love of God in worship, song, and fellowship, serving those in need and supporting each other.
We are an Episcopal church in the Diocese of New York, nestled in the heart of Croton-on-Hudson. Since our founding in 1855, St. A’s has been a spiritual home for generations of families and individuals in our area. For nearly 175 years, faithful worship, engaging Christian education, and meaningful service to our neighbors have shaped who we are — and we are proud to say we are today a happy, thriving, and growing congregation.
At St. A’s, all are truly welcome. People of all ages and backgrounds are active participants in our worship and Christian life. We are an open and welcoming congregation, which means we explicitly and joyfully affirm our welcome to people of all backgrounds, identities, and orientations — including the LGBT+ community. Whatever your story, wherever you’ve been, you belong here.
As part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, our worship is rooted in the Anglican tradition. We draw primarily from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer and the 1982 Hymnal. At St. A’s, all who seek God’s love are welcome to receive communion.

The Rev. Jennifer Owen
Mother Jenny
Mother Jenny has served as Rector of St. Augustine’s since December 2018. She is a graduate of Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, where she was formed in the rich Anglican theological tradition that continues to shape her ministry.
Mother Jenny loves leading congregations in their worship of God and especially loves baptisms — those sacred moments when new members are welcomed into the church. What keeps her energized as St. A’s Rector is the people: “The compassion and faithfulness of this congregation is inspiring!”
Outside of her ministry, Mother Jenny loves to knit, hike and read. She lives in Croton with her husband, Sam, who serves as Canon for Westchester & Putnam Counties and Canon for Global & Community Organizing in the Diocese of New York. Together they are the parents of two boys, Martin (12) and Andrew (10), and the proud humans of Cookie the dog and Sparkles the cat.
